On November 21, 2008, 15 ICC members brought their Camaros to the Fall Chevy-Vette Fest. For anyone who was not able to make it, you missed quite the display. We began our planning several months ago with an Elite Special Teams group, with goal in mind; we need to create a display that would win us the Best Club Display Award. Having this goal in mind, we each took our objectives and executed them perfectly. Due to the dedication and compassion that each club member put forth, the Illinois Camaro Club won the Best Club Display award! As far as I know, this is the first time in ICC history this has been done.
This leads us to the second part of our purpose at Vette Fest. Our Cars. Friday morning we began showing up around 11:00 am at the Rosemont Convention Center. We had till 9:00pm that nite to have our cars ready for show and our display up and running. Amidst the construction of the awesome display, each of us were diligently working on perfecting how beautiful our cars looked. This being said, the hard work paid off.
Bob and Patty Stumpf, Lindsay Usilton, Tim Jacobs, Lindsey Semerskey, Rich and Colleen Hanck, Ron and Gina Lombardi and Jim Hughes all won Gold Awards in the Bowtie Blvd category. Tim Jacobs and Ron and Gina Lombardi won Sliver Awards for their other Camaros.
And now to list your cast of Characters for the show: Tom & Alex King, Bob & Patty Stumpf, Lindsay & Steve Usilton, Lindsey S & Larry N, Rich & Colleen Hanck, Ron & Gina Lombardi, Tim Jacobs and last but not least Jim Hughes Sr and Jim Hughes Jr. Thank you all for your outstanding efforts this weekend, we won and each of you deserve it.
This year was probably the smallest showing of club cars for the fall session we’ve seen in a while. I really want to encourage all of the ICC members to consider attending this event. Friendships were so apparent this weekend, that it truly defined what a club is all about! I understand the economy has a major role in events that we can all attend, and this by far does take up a whole weekend. Though, we also got to see the Stage II Nickey Chevrolet Motor for the Gen 5 Camaro. There was also a display of 1969 Z28 Camaros, one of each color you could order in ’69. We also saw a great display of the Baldwin Motion Corvettes and Camaros.
Lastly, the Minnesota Camaro Club made an appearance and talked with us, that’s one heck of a drive just for a show!
ICC members, if the Minnesota Camaro Club can drive over 6 hours to come to Vette Fest, the we can Definitely bring out a bigger display of Camaros. You missed a truly awesome weekend. We now have a title to uphold and we are already brainstorming for next year. There will no longer be a Spring Session of Chevy-Vette Fest, so we only have the Fall one now. For next year, it will be the weekend before Thanksgiving, so MARK your calendars. If you have any questions about being part of the show, just email me. I want us to break all records of cars from a club for next year. Congratulations to all of the ICC Members who were at Chevy-Vette Fest Fall 2008!
