ICC Member Profile Dale Schieman 1971 Camaro RS/Z28
I had wanted a second generation Camaro since I was in grade school racing my AFX cars.
Fast forward thirty years to 2004 and there was my dream car on Ebay with all of the options that I wanted! Z28 350c.i. LT-1, Z22 Rally Sport, Muncie M22 4-speed/Hurst Shifter, GT5 4:10 Positraction Axle, D80 Deluxe Spoiler Package, F41 Performance Suspension, Code 13 Nevada Silver/Black Stripes, 775 Standard Black Interior, NK4 4-spoke Steering Wheel, and D55 Console all verified by a 05A/1971 Build Sheet from the plant in Van Nuys, CA.
Although the car is not a “survivor”, it has 46,000 miles with the original block, transmission, axle, and sheet metal. The engine had been overhauled with changes including compression, roller rockers, MSD ignition, and headers. The car has had four previous owners all on the west coast. After trucking the car to Illinois, I rebuilt the Holley 4150 carburetor and went through the ignition system to presently get 270 rear wheel horsepower. The car has won awards at Super Chevy and Chevy Vettefest.
I have been a member of ICC since 2004 and my favorite events have been Chevy Vettefest, the Volo Cruise, and the 4th of July Parade in Bensenville.
